The urban world of our cities are known to be very dangerous and corrupt, but how exactly accurate is this depiction? Game by Walter Dean Myers allows us to venture into the world not many want to be in. From this book by Walter Dean Myers we can see the world on which many belong to.

Certain groups of people are victims of stereotypes in the world. In game, we see the dangerous world Black youth is getting involved in."What's going on with the youth of America...The picture is far from pretty." The news than goes on to report on a stick up done in Drew's home, Harlem. The stick up is conducted by 16 year olds in broad daylight."It's more of our young men either getting killed or going to jail." Says Drew's mom. Game describes the life of struggling black young men in Harlem, and the shows us the deteriorating world.

Some people receive things without working for them. In Drew's team , the chargers, he's the main man. When a white kid (new) from his school arrives on the team without ever trying out, and starts every game after the end of the first half of the season. "House had told them Tomas was the main man to watch on the chargers." Said Drew when scouts immediately flaunted to Tomas when everyone knew Drew was the main man to watch. Why did Tomas get reference? Because he's white, and according to Drew, they get preference every time.
This text connects to the world because it shows us the struggling world of black youth in our inner cities.

  1. I think you chose a strong thesis. But you didn't really elaborate enough on your quotes to let me understand your point. I think your essay could have been a little longer and more complex, but good start! And good choice of CTQ
